The process : initial consultation - design - quotation - creation & handover - ongoing maintenance

1. FREE * Initial consultation:

All of our projects commence with an initial meeting where we will help you understand more about our capabilities, explain the project process and discuss your requirements. Changing your garden is a major commitment and you must be satisfied that you will feel comfortable working with us throughout the process. Our in depth project fact find will provide us a wealth of information (and probably provide you with a great deal to think about) together with any ideas for theme or style for your garden. We can also combine this with a site survey where we will take photographs of the location, record dimensions / levels and collect a soil sample.

2. Design

The garden designer is part artist, part architect, part civil engineer. Before your new garden is built, we will usually present you with a plan of how your new garden will look. Depending on the complexity of your requirements and the size of site, we have three types of design available:

Ready made: We have a wide range of garden design solutions, ready for you to choose from. Based on the discussions at our initial meeting we will provide a recommendation for you free of charge. These plans help deliver maximum impact for very reasonable cost.

Virtual designer*: From the discussions and site survey, we will brief one of our experienced garden designers to draw up a design appropriate for your site and tastes. This can be undertaken for both the construction (hard landscaping) and planting (soft landscaping) elements of the garden.

Fully bespoke*: For the discerning we offer a unique design by a senior garden designer who will visit your home and work through a range of concepts in consultation with you to interpret the brief. Following your comments and amendments you will then receive a final, scaled plan to fulfil the initial brief. A planting plan may also be created if required.

3. Quotation

Following on from the design stage we will provide you with a fully costed quotation and timtable for the work to be completed.

4. Creation & Handover

The garden construction services may be sub-divided into two distinct categories:

Hard landscaping:

Hard landscaping represents the construction element of any installation. We are equally happy installing a new feature (blending it in seamlessly with the existing surroundings), restoring an existing one or providing a full site clearance and construction service. We pride ourselves on build quality and whilst the final effect may be instant, we will not cut corners on the installation process. We are able to source a wide range of high quality materials to help create the mood of your garden and offer a full construction service. Typical features in your garden may include: Patios and paving, paths, decking, seating areas, retaining structures, walls, fencing, water features, pergolas and arbours, play areas, ponds, statuary, driveways, garden buildings, outdoor lighting and heating, irrigation systems.

Soft Landscaping:

Soft landscaping is the area that allows the experienced landscaper to really demonstrate his or her abilities. There is a specialist skill in correctly preparing beds and borders for planting, turfing and the selection and siting of plants appropriate to both the location and your tastes. The borders and planting make or break the best designs. This may be done in conjunction with a planting plan or may be left to the discretion of a qualified plantsperson to help create the wow factor that really completes the garden. The level of work required for successful soft landscaping will depend entirely on your specific location and present soil condition and our plants manager will be able to advise and oversee this type of work.

5. Ongoing maintenance:

The effect of your finished garden should be instant and stunning, but it will need time to develop and mature. To thrive in their new environment plants will need at least some form of maintenance over time.

Some of our clients will be happy to undertake the stewardship of the evolving garden (we can provide information to help you if required) or we can offer you a maintenance service to ensure that your garden is kept in optimum condition.
